Foundation
Begin by identifying Fields, functions and states without using guidebook poetry. Practice translating each card into one diagnostic question and one small real-world movement.
The foundation is complete when the reader can explain what a card does, what it does not claim and how evidence could confirm or weaken the interpretation.
Combination
Next, read pairs and short spreads. Name direction, relation and tension before writing a narrative. Compare neighboring Servitors so selection becomes mechanism-based rather than mood-based.
A reader at this level can preserve disagreement between cards and can stop drawing when the question is answered.
Operation and casework
Advanced practice adds scoped operations, records, scheduled review and closure. Work on cases where the outcome can be checked and where a mundane obligation is possible.
Do not measure skill by dramatic language or certainty. Measure it by clarity, calibration, ethical boundaries and the quality of the resulting decision process.
Assessment rubric
Score each case on function accuracy, state evidence, question quality, synthesis, uncertainty, actionability, consent and documentation. Proficiency means consistent reasoning across many cases, not a single impressive reading.
