Direction changes the sentence
Read combinations as ordered operations. Investigate then restrict is different from restrict then investigate. Write the pair as verbs before translating it into narrative.
In a spread, direction may come from position order, chronology or an explicit arrow. If no direction rule exists, do not invent one after seeing the cards.
Dominance needs a rule
A card may dominate because its position is structurally primary, because the spread defines a hierarchy or because several cards reinforce its Field. Visual drama alone is not a valid dominance rule.
When no rule establishes dominance, synthesize the functions as a tradeoff or cycle.
Contradiction and correction
Tension is information. Name what each function protects, what each risks and what condition would allow movement. A corrective pair does not cancel the first card; it regulates its excess or supplies a missing capacity.
Preserve uncertainty when multiple grammars remain plausible.
Density and stopping
As card count rises, possible relations multiply quickly. Prefer a small number of explicit relations over an exhaustive web. Stop synthesis when every conclusion can be traced to a position, card function and stated combination rule.
